House Bill 951, sponsored by Representative Matt Hudson, which merges the East Naples and Golden Gate Fire Control and Rescue Districts to create a new independent special fire control district to be known as the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District passed the Senate with a unanimous vote on Tuesday.
House Bill 949, also sponsored by Representative Hudson, which revises district boundaries for the purpose of annexing Isles of Capri Fire and Rescue District into the East Naples Fire Control and Rescue District, was also approved by a 40-0 vote.
The bills are now on their way to Governor Rick Scott for codification. Once both bills receive the Governor’s signature, House Bill 949 will go to referendum at the August 26th Primary Election and House Bill 951 will go to referendum at the November 4th General Election.
