Projects

Golden Gate CenterSince 1965, the Golden Gate Civic Association has been the voice and watch dog to improve and maintain the quality of life in this four-square-mile community. Here are but a few of the projects the Association has initiated.

  • Led the fight to reduce odors and modernize the Collier County Landfill
  • Formed the Golden Gate Community Task Force to work proactively with law enforcement, code, fire and other government officials to address issues of health, safety and welfare in the community.
  • Established the Golden Gate Beautification Committee and the Golden Gate Community Center Advisory Board
  • Led the effort to develop alleyways along Santa Barbara, Collier Boulevard and Golden Gate Parkway
  • Created the Golden Gate Lemonade Stand to fight drug and nuisance activity
  • Established the Home of the Month Award to recognize homeowners who maintain and/or improve their residences
  • Led the effort to form the I-75 Golden Gate Parkway Interchange Beautification Committee
  • Fought to hold county officials to their promise of a 17,000 square foot expansion of the Golden Gate Library in 2008. Officials had planned to reduce the scope of the project to 14,000 square feet.
  • Brought school and county officials together to construct the pedestrian/traffic bridge connecting Golden Gate High School to Tropicana Boulevard in Golden Gate.
  • Participates in annual community events including the 9-11 Tribute, Golden Gate Citizen of the Year Banquet, Golden Gate Walk of Trees.
